Frequently asked questions
What is MediaSave?
MediaSave is a free web tool that shows you the downloadable media files for a public post on X, Instagram, Facebook or TikTok. Paste the post link, choose one of the available formats, and save it.
Which platforms are supported?
X (Twitter), Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. Each has its own guide explaining which link formats work. If a platform is temporarily unavailable, you'll see a notice before you try.
Can I download private videos?
No. MediaSave only works with content anyone can view without signing in. Private accounts, friends-only posts, private groups, Stories and paid content are not supported, and we never ask for your social-media login.
Do I need an account?
No account is needed. You don't sign up with MediaSave, and you never connect your social-media accounts.
What video formats are available?
It depends on the post. We list exactly what the media-processing service returns — most often MP4 in one or more resolutions, sometimes an audio track or images. If only one quality exists, you'll see one option.
Why did my URL fail?
The most common reasons are: the post is private or requires login, it was deleted, it doesn't contain a video, the link is a profile rather than a post, or the processing service is temporarily unavailable. The error message tells you which one applied.
Is MediaSave free?
Yes. MediaSave is free to use. To keep it fast and fair for everyone, there's a limit on how many links you can process in a short time.
Is downloaded content copyrighted?
Almost certainly. Videos belong to their creators, and being public doesn't make them free to reuse. Download only content you own, that's licensed for reuse, or that you have permission to save. See our Copyright & DMCA policy.
